Dear Lori,
In this mid-month, mini newsletter, we will explore
one of the 8 major areas of the Wheel of Life. This month
we will focus on Intimate/Social Relationships.
The Gift of Real Friendship
At one time in my life I struggled to find healthy friends.
Today I am blessed with many beautiful friendships. This
is what I have learned about the gift of real friendship.
A real friend will truly listen and care about how you're
feeling. She will put aside what she's doing to care for
you during a time of need. She is not afraid to express
the truth, but will always deliver it with love. In true
friendship, you will share your innermost thoughts and
know that you are not being judged. Fear of vulnerability
is not an issue - you can laugh hysterically together
or hold each other and cry. A true friend accepts your
limitations and loves you the way you are. Real friends
appreciate and learn from their differences. You know
when you have a true friend because you treasure her with
all your heart, and she treasures you!
How do you receive the blessing of real friendship?
Know yourself and what's important to you in friendship.
Be willing to give up "unhealthy" friends or friendships
that no longer work for you. Share who you are and watch
how people respond. Pay attention to what they are telling
you about who they are. Love yourself and take care of
yourself in friendships by being honest and forthright
in your communications. But most important, continually
work on yourself so that you are being the best friend
you can be to other people.
Let the love of God shine through your character and
you will attract beautiful friends.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
