Start a Momnificent!® Life Group
Moms need and want to be in community with other moms.
The Momnificent!® Life - Healthy and Balanced Living for Busy Moms is a great book for moms' groups, book clubs, or other women's clubs. If you have an existing group you are part of, leverage the power and accountability of group support while working on this book together. If you are not part of a moms' or women's group, it could be fun to start one.

How you structure your group is completely up to you, but here are some general guidelines for using this book in a group format.
  • Read and work on one particular section of the book before moving on to another section.
  • Have each group member read the chapters and complete the take action assignments individually before opening up for a group share.
  • Have an open discussion about what group members want to create for that particular area of their life.
  • Help each other set goals pertaining to a particular area of life.
  • Assign a time frame to work on goals.
  • Follow up with a group share on successes, struggles and celebration of individual goals.
Setting up your Momnificent!® Life Group
  1. Pick a facilitator or two that will be responsible for leading the group. It's okay to switch off or share this role so no one person is overwhelmed with the responsibility.
  2. Pick a theme for your group. Examples include mothers with small children, empty nesters, working moms, moms with home-based businesses, single moms, etc. Mothers or women with similar needs and life circumstances help make your group stronger and more supportive. It is completely okay to form a diverse group, especially if you think members could learn from one another.
  3. Create a flyer to explain the book and group goals.
  4. Invite friends, co-workers, family members, club members, or acquaintances to an informal evening of drinks and snacks so you can introduce the book and the idea of forming a group. Make sure to tell women to bring their friends.
  5. Decide together when and where you will host the group.
  6. Once group members are decided, order copies of the book for everyone and create your reading/goal assignment for the first group discussion.
Ensuring Success with your Momnificent!® Life Group Following good group guidelines is essential to ensuring the success of your group. When working on life changes, women need to feel safe. Safety is created when trust within the group is built. Trust takes place when there is complete commitment from the group members to follow these success tips:
  1. You must have confidentiality. What is shared in the group stays in the group.
  2. Refrain from giving unsolicited advice. Just listen and wait for members to ask for what they need.
  3. Allow time for everyone to share. It's important to create space for each member to have time to share what is on their heart and mind. The group facilitator should commit to gently moving the sharing around the group if one member begins to monopolize the time.
  4. Stick to the topic you are discussing for the week. Since action and growth is the main reason for the life group, avoid excess social chit chat or topics unrelated to the goal for the week.
  5. Seek positive solutions. Complaining about a problem does little towards changing it. Encourage group members to focus on positive solutions they can put into action to create a higher quality of life.
  6. Take time to receive feedback from the group. At the end of each meeting, allow some time to talk about what's working and what could be improved to make the group more successful.
  7. Follow a meeting format. Decide up front what the format of the meeting will look like. It's always helpful to share success stories in addition to brainstorming solutions to group member's challenges. Since coaching is about taking action, the group should close with the homework assignment for the next meeting.
  8. Provide a contact list for everyone. Each member should work to help support other members of the group. Coaching is successful when we are held accountable for what's important to us.
